Everyone is born different; no two people are born the same. In today’s world, the fraction of those seeking to do more harm than good outnumbers those seeking to do good. Some exist on a more mundane level, and they don’t do wrong to be deemed cruel, nor do they achieve much to alter the world significantly. However, some special ones go on to achieve remarkable things in their life. They fight for others, defend the truth, and devote their entire lives to doing good.
One such person was born on the 3rd of February, 1973, in the Comilla district of Chauddagram City – Golam Rabbani. His father, Ekramul Haq, was a government official, while his mother, Mehrunissa Haq, worked as a school teacher who later got elected as a local government official. His father worked as a government officer in the Ministry of Planning. Golam Rabbani claims he wanted to become a social activist because his mother inspired him to do good. Being a teacher meant she came across children from all walks of life, making her a sympathetic character. That very sympathy is what made her so passionate about helping those who were less fortunate. In particular, the Bihari refugees. These Urdu-speaking individuals were rejected by their true home, Pakistan, and were unwelcome in the newly formed Bangladesh after the Liberation War in 1971.
From a very young age, Golam’s mother encouraged her son to go to the refugee camps near Mirpur and play with the children there. She would offer help however she could to those at camp while encouraging her son to speak with them and understand the turmoil they were going through. The extent of Golam’s involvement became so great that the people began to trust him, seeing him as one of their own. While on his part, Golam started to form an attachment to these minorities. This attachment grew so strong that it would define his every step as he worked for the betterment of these people.
There was an instant where a clash happened between the Bangalees and the Biharis where a few Bangalee men set their camp to fire. In a matter of seconds, the whole site was engulfed in flames. With no regard for his safety, Golam worked with the other Biharis to put the fire out and get as many people to safety as he could. Later, during the floods of 1988, he worked with several other young people, collected clothes, and made Rotis – a type of bread to distribute to those in need.
Golam Rabbani Nayan Bangalee began his effort as a social activist when he was very young. He understood the road that would lead him to help other people would be fraught with ups and downs. But with dedication in his eyes and a burning desire to help in his heart, nothing can stop him from doing what he believes is right to make his country a better and kinder place.
Now Bangladesh is the largest refugee host country in the world. More than a million Rohingya refugees from Myanmar suffer a lot, as Bangladesh is also a very developing country. Still, people like Nayan Bangalee have a deep empathy for them. His youth group is reluctantly working for those distressed people. Nayan Bangalee realized how refugees are being harassed mentally and economically for their circumstances. For that reason, he also worried about his country’s people who are staying around the world as a refugee. He established a Bangladeshi refugee support cell; this cell is working like “Migrant Foundation,” and Nayan Bangalee conceptually formulated a deep action plan by organizing a solid network among those displaced people. More than 10 million Bangladeshi residents migrated to different countries, and unfortunately, Bangladeshi Mission failed to support them due to corruption and political recruitment.
Nayan Bangalee and his team focus on migrant rights and human rights. In every country where Bangladeshi people are facing problems, the School of Leadership will stand behind them; They are not supporting them for a day but building their leadership ability. When a refugee will become a leader then other refugee automatically empowered. His Mission by addressing the global issue while working for his community and citizens.
